In Upstate New York, Urban Guerrilla Theatre are craftsmen in poetry & spoken word from eroticism to realism and are still the most noticable diverse organization in Albany, NY.

They've worked with a large numbers of various artists (like Albany, NY band MIRK, Her Temple Monologues to national poets Ibrahim The Poet, Rain Maker, Shelly Says So, Jai Simone, La Bruja, and Jamaal St. John (who is now a member of the UGT movement).

 

And throughout the years, UGT has continued to thrive as they work locally and nationally with other organizations and groups like Renaissance Art Space headed by Darryl Moss (D Moss) in Springfield, Massachusetts, Connecticut's own Verbal Slap Slam Team, and The Sweet Spot Nation which is founded by Ainsley Burrows of BurrowsInk in Brooklyn, NY.

Urban Guerrilla Theatre is also partners with other factions like Albany Poets, frequency North and others to help to create Albany, NY's first Poetry Slam team, The Nitty Gritty Slam Team. Which has grown and gained in popularity with College Students, local writers and poets in the Capital Region!


UGT's mission is to revolutionize the craft of poetry and live performances by growing and inspiring communities to embrace the arts.

 

FACT:

UGT Almuni usually continue to make strides as artists in their own right while some continue by heading their own groups, businesses, and organizations in Upstate New York and abroad.
